The Egg (Band)

The Egg is an electro-funk band, founded in the 1990s in Oxford ( England).

Band History

The Egg consists of twin brothers Ned and Maff Scott, bassist Dave Gaydon and guitarist Mark Revell. Their debut EP was released in 1995 by shopping the independent label Cup Of Tea Records. Before she published her first album albumen, The Egg signed her record deal with the indie label China Records, where the album was released then.

During their performances, all band members are dressed in white and act as human as cinema screens by movies and images are projected onto their clothes. In a review of their show Melody Maker described the event as " rapidly Psychedelia meets Aunt Harriet 's Home Movies." The band gained more prominence when she organized a benefit concert for the residents of the remote Scottish island Isle Of Eigg in Glasgow's restaurant "The Ferry" to help the inhabitants of the island abzukaufen an apathetic owners.

" Travelator " was released in 1998, and shortly thereafter was China Records from Major Warner Music taken. Then the band took a break before with " Forwards " returned 2004. The album sold fairly well, and the band thus procured some appearances at festivals including Glastonbury Festival.
