The European Union and Central Asia in the International System ( EUCAIS ) is an online master program of the Institute for European Politics ( IEP ) and the Centre International de Formation Européenne ( CIFE ).

Description

The course receives substantial financial support from the Volkswagen Foundation and the Jean Monnet Lifelong Learning Programme of the European Commission.

The postgraduate degree program is open to university graduates and young professionals from Central Asia (Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan and China's Xinjiang province).

Objective

The course enables participants to acquire knowledge of the integration process of the EU and to deepen and to understand current developments in the EU's relations to Zentrasien how to recognize the current situation in both regions in the international economic and political system. The completion of the program qualifies example for careers in Central Asian universities, international organizations, foundations and development institutions in Central Asia; the development of skills to scientific work and writing; Access to a prestigious European network and academic exchange programs between the EU and Central Asia; Building networks between the academic participants in the Online Academy in Central Asia.

Methodology

The course is a combination of e-learning, attendance periods in Berlin and Brussels and visits to EU institutions. The course material is provided in online courses and deepened through workshops. Participants are expected to familiarize themselves through self-study with the contents of online courses. The study progress is recorded in online discussions, assignments and tests during the residential phase in Germany. Direct Instruction supplements the virtual activities. This will take place in Berlin ( 4 workshops ) and Brussels. It gives the students the opportunity to the professors to academic debates and to take to intercultural dialogue. During the visits of the international institutions in Brussels meetings with EU officials and decision makers instead.
