The Fabulous Baker Boys is an American feature film of 1989.

Action

The brothers Frank and Jack Baker play for fifteen years together as a bar pianist in hotels and lounges of the city of Seattle. However, what was once a successful duo, is now quite dusty: Every evening the same hit, the same locations, the same jokes. For jazz talent Jack is this life he is forced to perform at his staid, mediocre talented brother's side, has become unbearable. However, the courage to change, he did not and so he drowned his frustrations in whiskey and looking for a change in several one- night stands.

When the brothers one night from the bar owner Charlie get terminated the engagement due to the sluggish business, Frank decides to hire a singer. She finds herself ultimately at the end of a grueling auditions in the unemployed call girl Susie "Diamond". Susie is not only highly attractive but also has a velvety, seductive voice and it helps the duo quickly to new boom and rising revenues.

Background

The hotel scenes were in the former Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles ( California ) rotated, which served as the backdrop of many films such as The Graduate and for Catch Me If You Can. In 1968, was murdered in this hotel Robert F. Kennedy.

In the film, several songs are very convincing sung by Michelle Pfeiffer himself. The soundtrack to the film has been released GRP Records jazz musician Dave Grusin under the label.

In this film the famous Ballhaus gyro can be seen. Michelle Pfeiffer sings, before Jeff Bridges on a wing lying, the song " Makin ' Whoopee ", while the camera the two orbits.
