The Fabulous Thunderbirds

Fabulous Thunderbirds was founded in 1977 by Stevie Ray Vaughan's older brother Jimmie Vaughan. This won for his project also Kim Wilson, Keith Ferguson and Mick Buck.

Band History

1979 the band recorded their debut album, the united traditionally played kind of rock'n'roll, country rock and rhythm & blues. During the recording of What 's the Word Buck left the band for him came Fran Christina. In 1981 appeared the blues album Butt Rockin '. In 1982, the album, produced by Nick Lowe T-Bird Rhythm on the market, which also offered a strong blues.

A short time later, the band lost their record contract, whereupon Ferguson left the band. He was replaced by Preston Hubbard. Dave Edmunds was in 1986, then the producer of the album Tuff Enuff, which spawned the single- Tuff Enuff compilations taken and Wrap It Up. It was the biggest success of the band. On the album can be heard, among other things, the pianist Chuck Leavell of the Allman Brothers and David Hidalgo and Cesar Rosas of Los Lobos.

The album Hot Number (1987 ) and the accompanying single stand back did not have as much success as its predecessor; even if the plate was praised by critics, similar to the songs too much to those of Tuff Enuff. The same was also true for Powerful Stuff ( 1989) and the eponymous single.

1990 rose Vaughan officially out, it was replaced by Duke Robillard. The captured at this time album Walk That Walk, Talk That Talk flopped. Jimmy Vaughan is heard on this album next to Duke Robillard though, but is not mentioned. The recording sessions he describes because of disputes with Wilson as " hellish ". Soon after, the Fabulous Thunderbirds parted.

1993 Wilson arranged a reunion, for which he was Doyle Bramhall win. They recorded the album Wrap It Up, which although also flopped, but still got very good reviews. The next album Roll the Dice, which was also praised by critics, was recorded in the cast Wilson, Christina, Gene Taylor, Danny Kortchmar, Kid Ramos and Harvey Brooks.

In the 1997 production Highwater Wilson was accompanied by Kortchmar and Steve Jordan.
