History

The Greek-speaking Jewish tradition used as the Old Testament the verb ευαγγελιζομαι based primarily on the most by the prophet Isaiah (Isaiah 40.9 EFA ) announced Messianic message of salvation. Later, this word should remember the Roman Emperors. They understood each other. Than the masters of the world, their Savior and Redeemer Messages that emanated from the Roman Emperor were called Gospel of whether their content was independent especially cheerful and pleasant. According to the New Testament accounts of Jesus used this powerful word of the Roman emperors deliberately at the beginning of his preaching. The evangelist Mark writes:

" After John had been arrested, Jesus came to Galilee; preaching the gospel of God and saying, ' The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is near. Repent, and believe the gospel. ' "

In the New Testament the noun comes ευαγγελιον ( Evangelion ) in Paul's letters 60 times before, to 21 times the verb ευανγελιζομαι ( evangelize ). The evangelist Luke uses the verb 25 times, the noun only twice in the book of Acts. In Mark, the noun appears four times seven times in Matthew.

When Apostle Paul is ευαγγελιον ( Evangelion ) is a central concept in his theology that God had acted in incarnation, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ for the salvation of the world.

Also in the Synoptics is ευαγγελιον the name for the Good News of salvation in Jesus Christ, each with a slightly different accent.

In any case, however, meant in the New Testament with ευαγγελιον an oral, preached the Good News, not something written Sticky.

Some Church Fathers referred to the entire New Testament as gospel. The term gospel in the context of the canonical Gospels writings can be found in Irenaeus: the gospel as a message of Jesus Christ in four forms - according to Matthew, Mark, Luke, John. Justin uses the term in two senses.
