The Great Heart is an American short film from the year 1938.

Action

The film is a short biography of the Belgian Order of Priest Damian de Veuster ( 1840-1889 ). In 1873 he had himself put his own request on the Hawaiian island of Molokai, where about 600 contracted leprosy people lived in a quarantine station. The priest wanted to donate them comfort and hope. In 1885 he fell ill with leprosy himself and died from its effects.
