The Greens (Israel)

HaJerukim (Hebrew: הירוקים, HaYerukim, German: Die Grünen ) is a green party in Israel. The party was founded in December 1997. The party chairman is the deputy mayor of Tel Aviv, peer Visner.

Election results

In the Israeli parliamentary elections in 2006 the Greens won 1.52 percent of the vote and failed so to the two- percent threshold. They were thus the most votes party that is not drawn into the Knesset. At the local level they have a total of 50 MPs after the 2008 local elections in 22 towns and cities. Below in Haifa and Tel Aviv with four with three deputies. The acting mayor of Haifa, Jonah Jahaw, was elected in 2003 as a joint candidate of the Green Party and Shinui in his office. Jahaw changed in 2006, however, the Kadima party. Also in the parliamentary elections of 2009 and 2013, the Greens won no parliamentary seat.
