The Highwaymen (country supergroup)

The Highwaymen were a union of four superstars of country music.

The Highwaymen were formed in 1985 by Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash and Kris Kristofferson. Because record sales were declining in the four musicians and they have long cultivated a friendly relationship with each other, they decided to make music together and go on tour.

The first album of the four was called Highwayman. The name derives from the first song was on that album. The full version of the Johnny Cash songs with the Big River taken in 1955 Original excised fourth stanza was added with the Highwaymen and also published on this album.

In 1986, with all band members as the main actor of the Western Stagecoach, a remake of the John Wayne classic from 1939, Ringo, rotated

1990 saw Highwayman 2, and finally appeared in 1995, the album The Road Goes on Forever.

1990 The Highwaymen went on tour together for the first time by the United States. The tour was a great success and the halls were always sold out. By 1995, more tours followed by the U.S., Europe and Australia. Performances in Germany they had in 1992 in Frankfurt am Main, Munich, Hamburg and Berlin.

1995 The Highwaymen was dissolved. Reason was the difficulty to gather all the musicians at the same time in the studio or on stage. It was followed by several projects in which the four in different combinations were making music together, for example, VH1 Storytellers with Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson.
