A flood of Dollars ( Original title: Un fiume di dollarization ) is a spaghetti westerns; the first of two of the director Carlo Lizzani. The well-received by critics and audiences film with Thomas Hunter and Henry Silva in lead roles was first performed in the German language area on 10 February 1967.

Action

The two Confederate soldiers Jerry Brewster and Ken Segall are with some money that they have removed the Uniates, on the way home, when they are discovered and pursued by a troop of soldiers. Jerry lends itself to arrest; Ken, who escapes with the loot, promises to take care of Jerry's family. After five years in prison, he returns home to meet his family and Ken again. The has become a rich and powerful landowner and commands a band around their leader Gracía Mendez to enforce its interests. Jerry's wife is some time ago, died of the miserable conditions in which they had to suffer after the Civil War, his son has to work as a stable boy.

With the help of a mysterious stranger Jerry can with effort and a few setbacks get rid gradually of the people of Mendez and can defeat in a decisive battle Mendez and Segall. The stranger introduces himself as government agent on the hunt for the missing money out; he appoints Jerry to the sheriff of his hometown once again peaceful.

Criticism

" A Western all'Italiana with, apart from spectacular optics and flashy action scenes, impressive use of exaggerated proffered genre motifs. With a bit of originality and successful history an example of good work, " judged the Segnalazine Cinematigrafiche. The Cinérévue praised the director as " lively and powerful pictures the right tone aptly " On the other hand, the lexicon of international film saw only a " brutal (s) spaghetti western with the usual revenge morality."

Comments

In Italy alone, the film played a 529 million lire.

It is disputed whether acted under the pseudonym Dean Craig for the script of the usually behind burrowing Piero Regnoli; some suspect Piero Pierotti - but the pseudonym is used even years after his death.

The film song "Home to my Love " interpreted Gino; the Italian version is called "Quel giorno verrà ... ".
