The Island Def Jam Music Group
The Iceland Def Jam Music Group was a record label that was formed by the merger of Iceland Records and Def Jam Recordings in 1999. The label was part of the Universal Music Group, for its part, subsidiary of the media group Vivendi (formerly Vivendi Universal). 2011, the traditional label Motown, which had come to Universal in 2005, Iceland Def Jam was slammed. Chairman of the new triple label was Barry Weiss, who had come from Sony Music, and LA Reid replaced.
