The Lady in Number 6

The Lady in Number 6 is an American- Canadian- British Short Documentary from the year 2013. Directed by Malcolm Clarke. The film about the Holocaust survivors and pianist Alice Herz-Sommer was awarded the 2014 Academy Award for "Best Documentary Short ".

Action

Alice Herz -Sommer, pianist, music teacher and survivors of the Theresienstadt concentration camp, talks in the film about her life, her philosophy of life and the importance of music. The at the time of filming 109 -year-old told what music triggers, as she gave her hope, about the futility of hating and optimism. She talks about her favorite composers and tells about life in the London apartment block where she lives. Interviewed also come neighbors of the pianist and cellist Anita Lasker -Wallfisch, who belonged to the girl orchestra of Auschwitz.
