The Last Days of Disco

The Last Days of Disco is an American comedy film directed by Whit Stillman from the year 1998. The films "The Last Days of Disco ", " Metropolitan " and " Barcelona" of the director are often viewed as a trilogy.

Action

Some young people are living at the beginning of the 1980s in New York City, they have just completed their college, at the beginning of their professional life and spend the nights in a not named in the film nightclub. Among them is Josh Neff who is looking as a prosecutor by a company engaged in club drug dealer, one of the friends is there manager. Charlotte Pingress flirting with two men: The lawyer Tom Platt and the adman Jimmy Steinway.

At the end of the film, the device is closed, visitors can not admit.

Jay Carr wrote in the Boston Globe, one would remember the movie because of the intelligent dialogues and because of the soundtrack. The end of the night clubs also meant the end of the youth of the characters. Chloë Sevigny and Kate Beckinsale would be " symbiotic " work together.

Kenneth Turan wrote in the Los Angeles Times, the director Whit Stillman doing " wonderful " films about the insecure young man. The characters are similar precisely drawn as the characters in the novels of Jane Austen. Turan praised the display of Kate Beckinsale, who, though British, speak in the film without an accent.

Awards

Kate Beckinsale received in 1999, the London Critics Circle Film Award. India was nominated in 1999 for the song I Love The Night Life for the ALMA Award.
