The League

The League ( English for " The League " ) is an American partially improvised sitcom that was first aired on 29 October 2009 on the FX transmitter. The German Original Air Date was 14 November 2013, RTL Nitro.

Action

The series is about a group of friends who participate in a fantasy football league. While each of the friends will do their best to win in the league, they must also deal with different and partly absurd situations of their daily lives.

Guest Stars

A variety of guest stars has appeared in The League. Among the more well-known personalities with guest appearances include Lake Bell, Kayden Kross, Ray Liotta, Sarah Silverman, Jeff Goldblum, Eliza Dushku, Timothy Olyphant, Ryan Hansen, Robert Wagner, Lee Meriwether, Snoop Dogg, Erin Heatherton and Ali Larter.

Due to the topic of " Fantasy Football" particular player and television commentators from the U.S. professional league NFL have brief appearances. These include among others the former player and later commentator Terry Bradshaw, who at the time of his appearance at the Cincinnati Bengals playing Chad Johnson, Terrell Suggs of the Baltimore Ravens, Sidney Rice, Jay Cutler of the Chicago Bears and the columnist and fantasy football expert of the television station ESPN, Matthew Berry.

Production

On 15 July 2009 it was announced that first a pilot episode of The League would be rotated. Then a first of six episodes of existing series was commissioned on August 20, 2009. This was followed by the second, third, fourth and fifth season with 13 episodes.

Since the beginning of the fifth season of The League will be aired on the U.S. cable channel FXX.

A sixth season has already been commissioned.
