The Liberator (anti-slavery newspaper)

The Liberator ( The Liberator s ) was an American weekly magazine. It was published between January 1, 1831 to January 1, 1866 by William Lloyd Garrison in Boston and was nationally notorious for their radical abolitionist position, which called for an " immediate complete emancipation of all slaves." She had a relatively small circulation of 3,000 copies and was aimed at an elevation of 1834 to a predominantly African -American audience.

She experienced a sharp repression. The vigilantes of Columbia (South Carolina) put a high bounty on the propagator of the magazine and Garrison had to defend legal action against baseless allegations of serious crimes.

"I sign numerous objections to the hardness of my language; but there is no reason for this hardness? I'm as harsh as truth, and as uncompromising as justice. In this respect, I will not think moderate, speak or write. No! No! Tell a man whose house is on fire, moderate to sound the alarm; ask him to save his wife a little out of the hands of the rapist; tell a mother her baby into the fire fallen gradually extract; - But do not push me for moderation in a case like this. I am serious - I use no excuses - I do not apologize - I back an inch; - BUT I'M A PART. The apathy of the people can jump a statue of her pedestal and hasten the resurrection of the dead. "
