The Lightning Seeds

The Lightning Seeds are an English rock band.

Band History

The band was founded by Ian Broudie ( singer, songwriter, keyboardist and guitarist ) and some session musicians.

In the 1990s, The Lightning Seeds were among the more well-known Britpop bands. After the opening success of the single Pure ( 1989) produced two more successful albums, the singles Life of Riley, Scythe, Lucky You or Change with very catchy melodies still belong to the standard repertoire of the radio station.

1996 produced The Lightning Seeds, the official anthem of the England team for the European Football Championship in England in 1996, Three Lions ( Football's Coming Home), named after the three coats of arms lion on the English national team shirts, and they played along with the comedy duo David Baddiel and Frank Skinner one. The song quickly became the number -one hit and the international football anthem and was much more popular than the official tournament song We're in This Together by Simply Red in 1998 the song was recorded again for the Football World Cup in France and reached England again top of the charts. In the video for the 1998 version of Robbie Williams is among the fans. In addition, the number 11 jersey with the back of Stefan Kuntz, whose surname wear the German fans in the video in the plural, pronounced in English, a term of abuse ( cunts ) represents and can be interpreted as an expression of the footballing rivalry between the two teams.

End of the 1990s, Ian Broudie concentrated on his solo career, which initially meant the end of the project, The Lightning Seeds. At the 2006 World Cup and the associated new edition of Three Lions ( Football's Coming Home), the band reunited; the best-of album The Very Best of the Lightning Seeds appeared in England in June 2006, in Germany in September 2007.
