The Likes of Us

The Likes of Us is a musical from 1965. It is the first work of the most successful musical team Andrew Lloyd Webber ( music) / Tim Rice ( lyrics ).

Despite great plans (premiere in Oxford, Dublin and even in London's West End), it initially failed to stage a production of the play. It was not until his 40th anniversary was the work on 12 July 2005 its world premiere in Andrew Lloyd Webber 's Mermaid Theatre in Sydmonton, England - albeit in a slightly amended, and with a new song, This Is My Time. This show, in the Tim Rice himself took on the role of Auktionärs, was recorded and broadcast on the radio and released on a double CD.

The Likes of Us is about the life of the English physician, benefactor and friend Thomas John Barnardo Children ( 1845-1905 ). The piece is similar in subject matter, style, and cast the time of its origin very successful musical Oliver! by Lionel Bart ( 1960).
