The clubs

The first Limelight was opened in the 1970s in Hollywood ( Florida). After a few years of operation, the building was destroyed by fire.

1980, the second Limelight was opened in Atlanta. It became the "hot spot", not least by parties of the magazine interview, where celebrities such as Andy Warhol, Grace Jones and Debbie Harry were spotted. He graduated in 1985.

In New York City in 1983 was the most famous Limelight club. In a former Episcopal Church of the architect Richard Upjohn in 1844 at Sixth Avenue was started with disco and rock events. Because of raids the club had to close several times. From 2003 to 2007, a similar club at this point was conducted under the name Avalon again. In Chicago, 1985-1989 existed from another club in a historic building in the Chicago Historical Society. After that, the Greater nightclub Excalibur moved into the premises.

In London, the club opened in 1986 in a former Presbyterian church from 1888 on Shaftesbury Avenue. 2003, the club has ceased operations.
