The Man-Eating Tree is a Finnish metal band from the area of ​​Oulu, which was founded in 2009.

History

After the dissolution of Sentenced drummer Vesa Ranta 2005 took a long musical break, worked as a photographer and opened a bar in Oulu After he had " overcome his fatigue in music ," according to his own statement, he gathered together in his circle of acquaintances members for a new band. Together with Miika Tenkula ( also Sentenced ), Janne Markus ( Poisonblack ), Aaron Rantonen and Mikko Uusimaa (reflection ) he made in 2009 in search of a singer. Shortly after, in February 2009 Tenkula died, (The Leafe ex - Fall of ) a suitable vocalist Tuomas Tuominen found in. A little later the band by Heidi Määttä (ex Embraze ) was completed on the keyboard.

The band name originated from a suggestion by Rantonen who was fascinated by the legend of the man-eating trees. The compositions for the first album were mostly created by Janne Markus and partly Rantonen, the texts for Vine originate from Tuominen.

In May 2010, the band released their first single, which debuted at No. 3 in the Finnish charts. On September 22, 2010 appeared on Cobra Records debut album Vine, which was recorded in January and February 2010 and produced by Hiili Hiilesmaa in Mastervox Studio. Internationally, there will be sold by Century Media. For fall 2010, a European tour was announced as the support of the Tarot.

In 2011 the second album Harvest, with which the band is currently on tour as support of Amorphis appeared.
