The Manor Studio

The Manor Studio ( also The Manor ) is a recording studio in the same manor house Manor House in Shipton -on- Cherwell, Oxfordshire, England, north of Oxford was located. It was the first recording studio living in the UK. The concept was brought in 1969 by the French musician Michel Magne at the Château d' Hérouville on the way.

The Manor House was Richard Branson and was used by Virgin Records as a recording studio, which also artists from other labels in the Manor worked. This was technically above average well equipped. In addition to the 4 - and 8- track tape machine, a 16-track device as various other devices for audio editing became available. The musicians also appreciated the rural seclusion and tranquility that included in the rental price meals and the continuous usage time of the house.

Among the recorded albums here heard the famous Tubular Bells by Mike Oldfield, which was produced in 1972 to 1973 by Tom Newman at the Manor House. Immediately after the Bonzo Dog Band was represented in the studios, which resulted from the previous vocal performance by Vivian Stanshall on Tubular Bells. Sandy Denny began here work on her second solo album Sandy in March 1972.

In April 1995, following the acquisition of Virgin Records through EMI, the Manor studio was closed. It has since become the country seat of the Marquess of Headfort.

2010 reported the New Musical Express that The Manor stands for 5.75 million pounds for sale.
