The Marketts
The Marketts ( in the 1970s, "The New Marketts " ) were an American surf band from Los Angeles, California that was active 1961-1977. With the instrumental piece Out of Limits in 1964 they reached # 3 on the U.S. Billboard charts.
Biography
The producer Joe Saraceno, the early 60s worked at " Liberty Records " and produced, among other bands like the Ventures, under the name The Marketts mainly surf - rock recordings published with various studio musicians. The main stakeholders include, among others Tommy Tedesco, Mike Gordon and Ben Benay (guitar), Mike Henderson ( sax ), Gene Pello (drums), Ray Pohlman (bass ) and Richard Hobriaco and later Tom Hensey ( piano).
Before the Marketts were known by the surf hit Out of Limits, the band had already recorded two minor success with the singles Surfer's Stomp and Balboa Blue by 1962. Later, she also released instrumental pieces that need to be assigned to the rock, space-age pop and easy listening genre. The band reached again the beginning of 1966 the top 20 of the Billboard charts with the Batman Theme.
