Successes in the U.S.

The passion for rock and roll records of the era brought Raul Malo, Robert Reynolds and Paul Deakin in the late eighties in Miami together. You still knew each other from school. Everyone had already gained experience in various bands. As they made their first Mavericks Greater Miami a reputation as a live band. End of 1990, a self-financed album was recorded, the only Raul Malo contained compositions. Nashville became aware of the newcomer. Several record companies strove for the trio. Finally MCA won the race and took the Mavericks under contract.

To produce their first album, From Hell To Paradise, the experienced lead guitarist David Lee Holt was hired. The songs came again for the most part by Raul Malo. However, sales remained well below expectations, although the critics of the musical quality were more than pleased. But the second album, What A Crying Shame, 1994 was the breakthrough. It sold over a million copies and was certified platinum. David Lee Holt then left the group and was replaced by Nick Kane. The next album, Music For All Occasions, was successful and went gold. The group received in those years, numerous awards, including a Grammy and two CMA Awards for " Vocal Group of the Year".

Success in England

The published in 1998, musically very diverse album trampolines sold particularly well in Europe. Especially in the UK, where the Mavericks in 1998 and 1999 gave several sold-out concerts, a solid fan base was formed. The decoupled from Trampoline Dance the Night Away reached the fourth place in the UK singles chart; the accompanying video clip was played in the pop music stations in Germany very often. The country band for a rather unusual sound with a hard rhythm section and reminiscent of Roy Orbison voice of her Cuban -born frontman Raul Malo had this crucial role.

In 1999, the cooperation with MCA was terminated. Nick Kane left the group. The remaining three members devoted themselves increasingly solo projects. At times the Mavericks were no longer existent. 2003 you found yourself back together and signed with the small London label Sanctuary. Here the album The Mavericks were produced in the same year, which again contained mostly songs by Raul Malo.
