The Mix (Kraftwerk album)

The Mix is a book published in 1991 studio album by the German band Kraftwerk. It consists of a selection of songs that were originally already appeared on previous albums by Kraftwerk and have been re- arranged and recorded. The album was released in a German and an English version.

Genesis

In the late 1980s, it was relatively quiet around the power plant. The last regular studio album Electric Café was released in 1986. Digital technology had found its way into the music production and the DIY computer from power plant did not look more contemporary. The band began therefore to bring their Kling Klang Studio on the date and to digitize their old music. While working on the remix CD Karl Bartos left the group to start the project Elektric Music. For him, Fernando Abrantes joined the band.

The album was recorded in an English and a German version on 11 June 1991 in Cast Hütter - published Abrantes - Schneider - Hilpert. As a producer Florian Schneider and Ralf Hütter are given. A credit for " Music Data Mix" Fritz Hilpert has. The fourth band member Fernando Abrantes is shown in the centerfold of the album. The album was tailored to the international dance market and contained remixes known Kraftwerk songs, the English version also contained texts in English. The group itself understood the album as " Kling Klang Studio Live Album " because they saw the studio as an instrument and remixing saw as a kind of a "live " performance.

Title list

It appeared several versions of the album, tailored inter alia as double LP, especially for the DJ market. The track list is therefore based on the CD version. The English titles are given in parentheses.
