The Moldy Peaches

The Moldy Peaches (Eng. The moldy peaches) are an anti-folk group from New York City. It was founded by Adam Green and Kimya Dawson. Other members of the band are bassist Steve Mertens, drummer Strictly Beats and guitarist Jack Dishel and Toby Goodshank.

Green and Dawson met for the first time in the studio of Exile on Main Street Records in Mount Kisco, New York and began their joint cooperation. In the late 1990s, the group was a part of the New York underground scene, hence the sometimes strange costumes, for example, frog outfits.

Both Adam Green and Kimya Dawson are currently focusing on their solo careers. According to Kimya Dawson The Moldy Peaches, however, are only dormant, not dead

In early 2008, the song ' Anyone Else But You ' from the first Moldy Peaches - album for the indie film Juno was used, and brought the band renewed attention. Adam Green and Kimya Dawson were among others at the movie premiere and in the TV show of Whoopi Goldberg together again. The soundtrack to Juno reached gold status in the U.S. and debuted at number one on the Billboard charts. In Germany he has entered at number 81 on the Billboard charts. On 8 February 2009, the soundtrack was even awarded the Grammy for " Best Compilation Soundtrack Album For Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media ".
