Le monstre is a French horror film from 1903 by Georges Méliès. The film was released by the film company S. Lubin in America on 15 August 1903.

Action

An Egyptian prince and a pharaoh try during a full moon night in front of the Sphinx, to awaken a dead wife back to life. This undertaking succeed for a short time.

Background information

The film was released again in 2009 as part of the Cinemateca Portuguesa. He is one of the first films to deal with the undead. For the revival of this skeleton was moved by means of threads and replaced with a real woman. Her name is not known.
