The Music Group

The Music Group was a multinational corporation, whose business included several major European manufacturer of musical instruments.

The Music Group was spun off in 2003 from the former conglomerate Boosey & Hawkes, which has since focused on its core business as a music publisher. As an investor, for the spin-off of the German fund Rutland Partners occurred. This funded the spin-off of £ 33 million. The Group initially consisted of the following companies:

  • Besson - full-range supplier for Brass Instruments
  • Buffet Crampon ( woodwinds )
  • Karl Höfner (string instruments and guitars )
  • Julius Keilwerth ( Saxophone )
  • Roderich Paesold ( stringed instruments and bows )
  • Rico International ( reeds and accessories)
  • W. Schreiber & Söhne ( woodwinds )
  • Jakob Winter ( instrument case )

In April 2004, Rico International was sold for € 22 million as the first company of the group. Thereafter, each followed by the sale of the company Jakob Winter and Karl Höfner to the respective management. However, these two sales achieved no significant revenue. Buffet Crampon was June 2005 sells for € 37.1 Miliionen. In 2005 The Music Group consolidated their holdings further to the brands Besson and Schreiber and Keilwerth. Besson went live in January 2006 Buffet Crampon.
