The National Bank (band)

The National Bank is a Norwegian supergroup, which was successful in her homeland since 2004.

Band History

The band was born from a unique project in 2003. Brothers Lars and Martin Horntveth from the formation Jaga Jazzist were commissioned for the Festspillene i Vestfold " vocal based" music contribute. They got the bassist Nikolai Eilertsen of BigBang and keyboardist Morten Qvenild, who had also played with Jaga Jazzist, do so. For the song they took the solo musician Thomas Dybdahl successful.

After the two agreed festival appearances, the five musicians stayed together and took a joint album. It was published in mid-2004 and immediately captured first place in the Norwegian album charts, where it stayed for three weeks and reached platinum status. In addition, The National Bank won the Spellemannprisen 2004 in the category pop group.

Despite the great success it was only a project in addition to their other activities for the participating musicians. In two years, only about 30 joint appearances came about. It was not until the end of 2007 the band was performing in Paris and Berlin, the new momentum and the beginning of 2008 appeared a second album entitled Come on over to the Other Side, which came to number 3 on the charts in Norway and has been published internationally. A tour with performances in Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and France followed. Since the end of 2008, the project rests again.
