The New York Observer is a weekly in New York City American newspaper. The New York Observer is published by the New York Observer Co. The paper reports on the New York life, politics and personalities. The first issue was published on 22 September 1987 by investment banker Arthur L. Carter.

2006, the newspaper was sold to the then 25 -year-old Jared C. Kushner ten million dollars. Arthur L. Carter still has a minority interest and advises Jared C. Kushner.
