The Nocturnal Silence is the debut album by the Swedish band Necrophobic.

Formation

The album was recorded and mixed in March 1993 in Sunlight Studios; as a guest musician had Micke Jansson and Richard daemon. It was produced by the band and Tomas Skogsberg, this worked together with Lars Linden as a sound engineer. In the original pressings Inborn Evil was given as Shadows of the Moon. Reissues were made in 2003 by Painkiller Records on vinyl and Hammerheart Records on CD ( with different design) and in 2011 by Hammerheart Records on vinyl and CD.

The cover is from Urban Skytt and shows, in addition, designed by Johan Hansson Necrophobic lettering and the title of the album an inverted pentagram on a subject on the top Pentagon in a circle. The album contains photographs of the band by Jocke Stabel and Karin Strandås. On the CD label of the original pressing an icon from the Necronomicon is to be seen; the Hammerheart version instead shows the same symbol as the cover, but differently colored.

Style of music and texts

The music contains typical elements as well as those of Deicide and Bathory for Swedish bands like Dismember or Unleashed.
