The Oceanides

The Oceanids (Finnish Aallottaret ) op 73 from 1914, is a tone poem and the only work of Jean Sibelius, which is not based on a Finnish fabric. It is a commissioned work for the trip to America in 1914 for the Norfolk Festival in Connecticut. The clay takes about 8 ½ minutes.

The work refers to the classical mythology. The Oceanids are nymphs, daughters of the sea god Oceanus and his wife Tethys.
