Sleep well, sergeant (Hebrew השוטר אזולאי ) is an Israeli film directed by Ephraim Kishon from the year 1970.

Action

Azulai is a cop who goes on patrol in Jaffa. Although he is a police officer for 20 years, he was always promoted only on the basis of his service, for he is too stupid to notice even obvious crime or to recognize as such. However, he is not about stupid: He has a knowledge of the Bible, which itself impresses the orthodox Jews, he speaks almost a native speaker of French and Arabic poetic. In addition, he is very dutiful and kind-hearted and a devout Jew. These qualities are not enough to his superiors and so they want to dismiss him or his contract will not extend ( despite the great shortage of staff ). To prevent this will Azulai particularly successful do his work in his last time. But he can not.
