The Postal Service

  • Jimmy Tamborello

The Postal Service is an American Indietronic band.

The band consists of Ben Gibbard ( lead singer of Death Cab for Cutie ) and Jimmy Tamborello, both of which are still active in other bands.

Band History

The two worked together for the first time, as Gibbard took over the vocals for a song by Dntel Tamborellos project. Due to the success of this collaboration, the two decided to produce his own album. The name The Postal Service was created, as Gibbard and Tamborello due to the large distance between them could never work personally with each other and it is thus naturalized that Tamborello programmed music, they sent in the mail to Gibbard, who then over it sang on the existing tracks and melodies added and then sent back to Tamborello.

2003, her album Give Up. The album also gained considerable success by a joint tour. Confirmed by the success, decided the two musicians, cooperate in spite of the work in their own bands on. It was the most successful album of her label ( Sub Pop ) since Nirvana's debut album Bleach.

Gibbard said in December 2008, Rolling Stone that he and Tamborello indeed worked together from time to time, but there is no concrete plan to produce a second album. But both are busy with other projects too.

On January 21, 2013, exactly ten years after the release of their first EP called Such Great Heights, the reunion of the band was announced. Currently, a second album is realized. Between April and July 2013, the band returns with concerts in the U.S., Canada and Europe back to the stage.
