Band History

Foundation

1985 the British band Duran Duran an artistic break. John Taylor and Andy Taylor (no relation ) joined then by chance with the former drummer from Chic, Tony Thompson, as well as the solo artist Robert Palmer for a joint project together.

First, John Taylor wanted to record a cover version of the hit Get It On by T. Rex and his then partner. Even before the shooting had begun, however, the couple separated. Instead, Palmer was committed for the taking, and ultimately eight pieces were recorded in collaboration with producer Bernard Edwards.

The self-titled album was released in the spring of 1985. 's First single, Some Like It Hot peaked at number six on the Billboard Hot 100 and also Get It On ( Bang a Gong ) reached the U.S. Top Ten. Communication, the last single from the album, on the other hand reached just under the Top 40

A few days before the first tour left Palmer however, the project in favor of his solo career. In the spring of 1986, he had with Addicted to Love his first and only number-one hit in the U.S.. For the tour, which also included an appearance at the Live Aid concert, the singer Michael Des Barres was shortly obliged. Subsequently, the project was canceled.

Comeback

In autumn 1996, Power Station returned in the original line with the album Living in Fear back. John Taylor left even during the recordings the band and was replaced on bass by Bernard Edwards. Shortly before the beginning of the subsequent tour died Edwards, the band toured with then replacement bassist, including Guy Pratt. After the band broke up again.

Both Palmer as well as Thompson died in 2003.
