The Prince of Tennis

The Prince of Tennis (Japaneseテニス の 王子 様tenisu no ōjisama ) is a manga series by the Japanese illustrator Takeshi Konomi that has been implemented as an anime series and is attributed to the shōnen genre. It is about the rise of Ryoma Echizen boys in the tennis world.

Action

The boy Ryoma Echizen has just moved back from the USA to Japan and has logged on to the Seigaku Junior High School, which is known for its good tennis team. He wants to be on the team and even though he's only in the first year, it takes the strict captain of the team, Kunimitsu Tezuka, in the core team on. Ryoma ultimate goal is to defeat his father. Nanjiro Echizen was a famous and world renowned tennis player, after he had, however, lived his dream, his new dream Ryoma was to make a professional.

Together with his friends from the team, of which each individual has a very special style and character and is not so easy to defeat, as Ryoma initially thought he fights his way up the rankings of major national Youth Championship Tournament. The team competes against several other schools with their team members, they will soon close friend or enmities. It must realize that he must first of all overcome the players of his own team and other strong opponents before he can make it to defeat his father Ryoma.

Seishun Gakuen ( Seigaku )

  • Ryoma Echizen

(1st class Junior High) - is a new player on the team because of his talent. He often seems disinterested and arrogant, which irritated his opponents (and sometimes his friends ).   • Kunimitsu Tezuka

The Prince of Tennis was released in Japan from July 1999 to 3 March 2008 weekly in individual chapters in the manga magazine Shōnen Jump of Shueisha Publishing. These individual chapters are also published regularly in 42 anthologies. The manga had over several years of the most successful Japanese comic series; the first forty anthologies are in Japan to March 2008, sold about 40.6 million times.

Under the title Shin Tennis no ōjisama (Japanese新 テニス の 王子 様) published since March 2009, continued in the monthly Jump SQ.

The series has been translated into eleven languages; into English, French, Italian, Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Thai, Malaysian, Dutch, Indonesian and German. The manga since April 2006 published by Tokyopop in German. In October 2010, the 42nd and final volume was published.

Anime

Production IG produced the manga, a 178 - episode anime series that aired from 2001 to 2005 on the Japanese broadcaster TV Tokyo. In addition, four OVAs and three movies emerged.

An OVA series with a total of 13 episodes, which only deals with the National Junior High School Tennis Championship, appeared in April 2006 in Japan. Musical
