Reception

The album proved to be a surprise hit. The sales figures of The Razors Edge were similar to those of the albums of AC / DC ' s "Classic " period in the early 1980s comparable. In the U.S. Billboard 200, the album reached number 2 in the UK album charts, it reached No. 4 and got gold status. The Razors Edge has now been awarded in the United States five times platinum. In Canada, it even reached the top position and also received a five-time platinum award. In Germany it remained whole 18 weeks in the Top 10 and reached 4th place there too, in her native Australia was the disk successfully, it is placed in position 3 and was double platinum.

The singles were very successful in comparison to those of the previous albums. With Money Talks came for the first time since 1983, again an AC / DC single on the Billboard Hot 100, where it landed at number 23. Also, all three singles reached the UK Top 40 at number 36 Money Talks, Are You Ready to 34th place and 13th place Thunderstruck

The reviews also were positive. Music journalist Michael Rensen, for example, gave the following conclusion: "AC / DC are one of the few superstar bands that have survived every musical fad without permanent damage and had to correct it at any time their stylistic line. In the seventies they were innovative pioneers of rock road, in the eighties, they were able to hold their own despite disco, wave and small creative misfires, and in the nineties, they started with a strong album that all the moaners zudrückt throat. The Razors Edge not only has an extremely fat sound, but has with Money Talks, Got You by the Balls and the famous opening song Thunderstruck some high caliber rock and roll weapons at the start, at the sight of the trend police screaming takes flight. For every second you can feel the unshakable honesty and earthiness, with the Australians pour her life into songs and thus millions of people the drab everyday sweeten a little. Who turns up far on this sound his installation, needs no more depression to fear. "

Götz Kühnemund also was enthusiastic in Rock Hard magazine of the album and wrote: " The ancients are back full! Judas Priest have just released their best album in years, Black Sabbath have cemented her comeback from last year, and AC / DC are anno 1990 can not be stopped! The Razors Edge is much, much better than you could expect after completely disappointing Blow Up Your Video LP. A typical AC / DC rockers line up behind the other, each a little hymn that can easily sing along at the latest after the second pass of the Angus - worshipers. Apart from the numbers Goodbye & Good Riddance to Bad Luck ( to tapped ) and Mistress For Christmas, which still strongly reminiscent of Bedlam in Belgium in the chorus, can be found on the disc, no failures, and sometimes you have to AC / DC certify even unusual originality (eg, The Razors Edge, Money Talks, If You Dare ). For the best AC / DC vinyl since For Those About to Rock 's 8.5 points [ out of ten possible points ]. "
