The Ripping Friends
The Ripping Friends is an American animated television series that was devised by the Canadian -born artist and animator John Kricfalusi and his partner Jim Smith on September 7, 2001, on the Canadian channels Teletoon premiere. The series ran for thirteen episodes until 2002 and was not continued.
Content
The Ripping Friends is a superhero parody. Are told the adventures of the hero Crag, Rip, Slab, and Chunk, whose super powers consist only of your ability to endure great pain. Much of the humor arises from stereotypical dangerous situations that are triggered by exaggerated versions of popular super villain, and made worse by the incompetence of the hero. These must always overcome wrenching difficulties and withstand greater loads. A recurring minor character is already invented by Kricfalusi for earlier projects " Jimmy The Idiot Boy".
Production and publication
The series was produced in 2001 by Helix Animation and Spümcø to a design by John Kricfalusi and Jim Smith. The music was composed by Steve London.
The first broadcast took place on September 7, 2001, Teletoon in Canada and instead ran until 26 January 2002. Starting September 8 broadcast followed on Fox Kids in the United States, later followed by repetition on Cartoon Network. CNX radiated from the series in the UK, in Canada, a French-language version was sent.
