The Romeros

Celedonio Romero is the founder and ( grand) father of the guitar quartet Los Romeros, the first in a formation of his sons Celín Romero, Pepe Romero, Ángel Romero and he was, now fresh grandchildren Celino Romero and Lito Romero formation on. The patriarch has taught his children at a very young age to play guitar and spawned a dynasty of guitar players.

The Romeros are originally from Málaga ( Spain), and hiked during the Franco dictatorship in 1957 to California. In the U.S., the Romeros had performances with symphony orchestras, the Boston, Cleveland, Chicago, Philadelphia, Los Angeles ( under Morton Gould ), San Francisco, Pittsburgh and Detroit. Further cooperation took place with the Louisiana Philharmonic, the Philadelphia Chamber Soloists and the San Diego Chamber Orchestra.

Repertoire

Los Romeros play mainly classical guitar arrangements. Orchestral support for CD recordings they receive, inter alia, by the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields Orchestra under Neville Marriner. They play Antonio Vivaldi, Joaquin Rodrigo, Federico Moreno Torroba, Georges Bizet, Manuel de Falla, Enrique Granados, Domenico Scarlatti and other composers, as well as original compositions by Celedonio Romero.
