The Sandpipers

The Sandpipers was an American Folk-/Pop-Band.

History

All members came from the Mitchell Boys Coir from Los Angeles. In the early 1960s they founded the band The degree and took on a number of boards, but all were unsuccessful. Then they were taken by Herb Alpert under contract, and mid-1966 they had with their version of the Cuban song Guantanamera their biggest hit. Hal Blaine accompanied the band while on the drums.

Another hit was the trio in 1970 with the song Come Saturday Morning, they recorded for the feature film The Sterile Cuckoo with Liza Minnelli. Although in the aftermath failed to really big chart success, the band larger concert halls filled for years on tour across America.
