The Seeds of Love
The Seeds of Love (Eng. The seed of love ) is the third studio album by the British band Tears for Fears. The album was released on 25 September 1989 at Phonogram and Mercury Records and is the genre New Wave attributed.
Genesis
Roland Orzabal took along with Nicky Holland, a studied pianist who Tears For Fears had already helped tour for album Songs from the Big Chair, in January 1987, work on a new music album. The two wrote five of the eight titles together. At Sowing the Seeds of Love Orzabal wrote with Curt Smith. As a producer of the album, the production duo Clive Langer and Alan Winstanley was provided. However, cooperation was difficult, so the finally Orzabal along with David Bascombe, the line took over. The album was recorded in Peter Gabriel's Real World Studios in Wiltshire recorded with numerous guest musicians and discovered by the band American singer and pianist Oleta Adams.
Publication and chart success
Four weeks before the album's release was published Sowing the Seeds of Love as a single in August 1989 and peaked in the charts top rankings (ranked 5 in the UK Top 40, # 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and # 11 in the Media Control charts. ).
The album made it to the top of the British album charts and stayed there for 30 weeks. The album was honored by the British Phonographic Association BPI still in October 1989 with a platinum record.
In the United States, the album was at # 8 on the Billboard 200 with a waiting time of 34 weeks. The American Association RIAA certified platinum disk.
In Germany it reached # 5 and stayed 37 weeks in Switzerland Platz 8 and 11 weeks in Austria number 13 and 8 weeks. The German Music Association certified a gold record.
