The film Itch 7th year (also: The Seven Year Itch ) was founded in 1955 by Billy Wilder on the play My wife does not experience any word ( The Seven Year Itch ) by George Axelrod rotated.

Action

He is determined not to waste like other husbands of his time in drinking and flirtations. But his intentions are forgotten as a sensual blonde moves into the apartment above his.

Background

The scene in which the wide white skirt of Marilyn Monroe by the exhaust air of the subway is whirled, was first recorded in Manhattan's Lexington Avenue, near 52nd Street. The exterior shots in New York were disturbed by screaming and cheering crowds, which was useful for the publicity of the film. This, however, turned the footage was not usable. The movie was then reshot in Hollywood studio 20th Century Fox again. After this scene was later known as the " Monroe effect" named.

Interestingly, however, this effect is by no means an invention of Billy Wilder. The two -minute silent film What Happened on Twenty - third Street, New York City from 1901 is an early film version of that exact scene.

The film was an international success.

1952 ran the play My wife does not experience any word ( The Seven Year Itch ) successfully on Broadway. In Germany it is performed regularly since the 50s. Television broadcasts were aired in 1970 in the Bavarian Radio and 1982 on ZDF.

German version

  • "Miss Monroe to the movie at a special personality and a certain physical Something that might not necessarily meet the expectations of the author of the original, but certainly has some merit. From the moment in which they - in a dress that wrapped her shapely body, as if they were infused artfully - enters the scene, suggests the famous movie star with the silver- blond hair and innocent big eyes just one. And this suggestion dominated pretty much the entire movie. It's - well, why is it formulated? Miss Monroe clearly plays the title role. "- Bosley Crowther - New York Times
