The Spessart Inn

The Haunted Castle is a German comedy film directed by Kurt Hoffmann in 1958, loosely based on the same template The Haunted Castle by Wilhelm Hauff from the year 1827. The premiere took place on 15 January 1958.

Action

Franziska Countess of and Sandau is with her fiance Baron Sperling, her maid and a pastor in a carriage on the way to Würzburg, as they drive in the Spessart with the coach in a pit on the way, with a wheel breaks. Not realizing that this is the case of a notorious gang of robbers, they follow the advice of two dubious figures and rising from the nearby inn. There they meet the artisans Felix and Peter and to the robbers, who take the Comtesse hostage to extort from her father for a ransom. These exchanges ado Felix the clothes and escapes.
