The Spider (British comics)

The Spider (Eng. "Spiderman" ) is a British comic book of the same name and a comic book character that have been designed by the author Ted Cowan and artist Reg Bunn.

Historical origin

The Spider appeared as a super villain, but over time the fronts replaced, for the first time on 26 June 1965 to 26 April 1969, at Comic Lion and Lion Annuals ( 1967-1971 ) on. Jerry Siegel, one of the creators of Superman, wrote from his third appearance within Lion actively involved in the action whose adventures with and wrote much of the chapter in which the character appeared.

The Spider was almost simultaneously, but independently, developed to Stan Lee's Marvel character The Amazing Spider -Man in the 1960s. Therefore, their names Spiderman / Spider man led, among other things, in German-speaking partly to confusion.

Publications

In Germany The Spider first appeared in February 1975 under the name of Spiderman in the weekly Cobra (magazine) as a continuation of history and from 1977 also in the Cobra paperback series. The comic was published among others in the United States, Spain, Italy and France.

In 1992, published 2000 AD a " Special Action ", which was written by Mark Millar and among others, " The Spider" operated in conjunction with characters from the same era. The character was portrayed here as a cannibal, led the fans to a rejection of this issue.

An older, retired contained, version of the character appeared in the comic book Jack Staff.

2005, the first chapter within King of Crooks ( Titan Books, London 2005, ISBN 1-84576-000- X) were reprinted.
