The Swingers

The Swingers were a New Zealand rock band that played music from 1979 to 1982. Their music combined elements of rock with those of jazz. Phill Jud sang and played guitar, Bones Hillman was bassist and drummer Ian Gilroy was. Other members were David Key and Buster Stiggs.

They had their biggest hit in 1982 with the title track from her second album Counting the Beat. It reached number one in New Zealand and Australia and also taught them the album release in the United States. Nevertheless, the band could not build on the success and fell apart shortly thereafter.
