The Tannahill Weavers

The Tannahill Weavers are a folk band from Scotland. The name comes from the Scottish poet Robert Tannahill, of which several songs belong to their repertoire. The band was founded in Paisley in 1968, where he had also made their first appearance in St. Peter 's Folk Club, which belonged to the father of the founder member Neil Doherty.

Their first album was released in 1976 with their second album, they brought one of the first folk groups the bagpipes (see Highland bagpipes ) which will, is originally a solo instrument, and thus contributed significantly to expand the sound of traditional Scottish folk music.

As part of its worldwide tours they have occurred since 1975, often in Germany.

That usually on acoustic instruments (mainly guitar, mandolin, violin, flutes, bagpipes, bodhran ) played musical repertoire of the Tannahill Weavers is characterized by modern recycled music from the Celtic tradition of the British Isles. It extends from romantic - melancholic usually presented in Scottish English ballads about polyphonic a cappella pieces to rapid played dance music in the form of jigs and reels. The Tannahill Weavers sting in the relevant folk music scene out by the fact that in many of their single title they combine these very different style elements together, whereby they develop a specific musical dynamic in their genre.
