The Temple Downtown

The former Scottish Rite Temple, now known as The Temple Downtown, is a historic building in Mobile, Alabama, which was the former Masonic meetings. Architect of the Egyptian- building was George Bigelow Rogers. He drew inspiration from ancient pylons and at Bab al - Amara Gate at Karnak. The two obelisks in the roof area originally served as chimneys. The foundation stone of the temple took place on November 30, 1921, the completion already in 1921. The building was registered on January 5, 1984 to the National Register of Historic Places. Since the 1996 completion of the sale to a private person, it serves as a festive banquet venue.
