The Three Degrees

The Three Degrees are a female soul trio. In the 1970s, she coined the Phillysound and had their greatest success with When Will I See You Again.

Career

The founding members included Linda Turner, Shirley Porter and Fayette Pickney. They were discovered in Philadelphia in 1963 by producer Richard Barrett, who wrote her first single Gee Baby ( I'm Sorry ). 1963 Linda Turner and Shirley Porter left the group and were replaced by Helen Scott and Janet Jones. 1966 retired from Helen Scott; for she moved Sheila Ferguson after. 1967 Janet Jones left the group and was replaced by Valerie Holiday. In 1970 she had her first U.S. hit with Maybe. The next song I Do Take You reached # 7 on the R & B charts.

The group was conceived as a competition lineup to the Supremes the U.S. record company Motown Records in Detroit, Michigan. In 1971, the Group had a guest appearance in the movie The French Connection starring Gene Hackman. The same year she appeared in the supporting program of the tour by Engelbert Humperdinck.
