The Thrills

The Thrills is a contemporary Irish band that plays Sixties - influenced guitar pop California. Musically they were influenced among other things by Neil Young and The Byrds.

Band History

Daniel Ryan and Conor Deasy grew as neighbors in Dublin and were childhood friends. Together, they discovered their love of football and music. With ten years both got given her first guitar; Five years later, they decided to form a band. Kevin Horan went with Conor Deasy to school, Ben Carrigan and Deasy met in the music school. Padraic McMahon came somewhat later. Since then, ie since about 1996, no reshuffle followed more.

When they had finished school in 1999, she decided to go to California, where they lived in a beach hut. This mood they took four months later returned to Ireland. Soon after, she got a good deal of the music label Supremo, and in 2001 they signed their first record contract, but was released after a short time. The five were not discouraged, looked for a new manager and took on new demos. Suddenly, several record companies in the band seemed to be interested, and they eventually signed a contract with Virgin Music.

Even before they had entered into the contract, The Smiths frontman Morrissey equipped the thrills from a visit to their rehearsal room and offered them to be on his U.S. tour here. In September 2002, the Thrills were first opened for Morrissey at the Royal Albert Hall on the stage.

Shortly after, the band flew back into the U.S. to there their first album "So Much For The City" record. The CD had some success ( the New York Times they chose even the second best album of the year ). The debut album entered the UK from 0 to 3 in the charts in Ireland even to the number 1 Their second album, "Let's Bottle Bohemia" took the Thrills 2004 with producer Dave Sardy on.

Meanwhile, the Thrills have completed 170 performances.
