The Tour Championship

The Tour Championship ( official spelling: THE TOUR Championship ) is the final tournament of the FedEx Cup as part of the North American professional golf tournament series PGA TOUR. It is adjacent to the Dubai World Championship is the most lucrative professional golf tournament in the world.

History

Held in 1987, was named the event until 1990 after his sponsor Nabisco Championship. From 1997, the tournament was carried out alternately on the Champions Golf Club in Houston, Texas and the East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta. Since 2004, the latter place permanent venue. By the year 2006, the date was early November, Masters of the PGA European Tour, the possibility to offer a week after the Volvo qualified for both tournaments players to exercise their right to play. This event marked the end of the official tournament calendar of the PGA Tour.

As of 2007, however, there were significant changes. The date was moved to mid-September and the Tour Championship will conclude the four tournaments comprehensive Playoff called " Chase for the FedEx Cup ." The PGA Tour goes after that in the case series ( autumn season) and with seven events, " Quest for the Card " called ( here the best 125 players are determined, which may secure the card for next season ), finished in early November.

From 2013 the tournament again marks the end of the PGA Tour season and the new season starts in October.

Game Mode

Only the first 30 of the PGA TOUR money list (since 2007 FedEx Cup ranking) are eligible to play. Therefore there is no cut and all participants will play all four rounds.
