The Turkish Gambit

Turkish Gambit is the second novel by Boris Akunin Fandorin. The novel's title is a reference to the Gambit, an opening in chess.

Content

The novel is told from the perspective of the young Russian woman Varya Suworowa that her fiance to Bulgaria nachreist in 1877, after he has reported to the Russian - Ottoman war. When she gets some unexpected help from Fandorin in a difficult situation, they come with him to the Russian front during the siege of Plevna. The novel describes the unsuccessful attacks on the city, while Fandorin and Suvorova be entrusted with intelligence tasks. They eventually reveal a list which thwarted the escape attempt of Turkish troops from Plevna. Thus, the war reached a turn in favor of Russia, but Fandorin recognizes at the last second that a Turkish spy planning another list that would have mobilized the European powers against Russia. As Fandorin uncovers the plan, entrenched the spy and waiting for reinforcements, but which is subject to the Russians.

  • Johannes Steck speaks the text of the novel in the same name published in 2005, six CDs comprehensive audio book the publishing house Edel Germany GmbH from Hamburg.
  • The novel underwent a Russian film, once as a four -part television series and feature film as 132 minutes under Turkish Gambit director Dzhanik Fajsijew.
