Producer Whitfield experimented with their recordings with psychedelic sound effects as he had done it since the late 1960s with the Temptations. The song material from The Undisputed Truth was often also because of tracks that were previously recorded or about the same time also by the Temptations and their versions were sometimes big hits. For example, Ball of Confusion, Ungena za Ulimwengu ( Unite the World), Superstar ( Remember How You Get Where You Are), Law of the Land, Papa Was a Rollin 'Stone and Just My Imagination (Running Away with Me). However, the practice was that individual titles were equally recorded by several artists in the contract home Motown / Gordy anyway not uncommon.
