The Universe (Dubai)

The Universe is announced in January 2008 Project of a planned artificial archipelago off the coast of Dubai, United Arab Emirates, which is to expand the area of the emirate to another 3000 acres. It is provided between the coast and the artificial archipelago The World and should extend from the west near the Palm Jumeirah and east for a distance of approximately 16 kilometers to Port Rashid.

The planned Islands are in the form of some known celestial bodies, such as sun, the moon, the eight planets of our solar system and the universe as a distant galaxy located.

The project should be realized by the investment group Nakheel, which is building the other island projects with a construction period of about 15 years from 2010. End of November 2008 stated with Nakheel, however, that due to the global economic uncertainty and other necessary research, the project is currently not being tracked. The end of 2009 came Nakheel in economic difficulties and had to put on hold a number of projects. Therefore it is not expected with the construction of the island group for the time being, the project has not yet been abandoned.
